We have booked the South London Scout Centre for the night of 10th – 11th June 2016: that’s the first Friday and Saturday night after half term.
This will be the fourth year of CDPS Camp Out – last year we had over 30 tents and over 120 people. As usual there were lLots of people camping for the first time – and everyone was happy to help each other set up. We have again booked TWO night this year. You can come to either or both – or visit and go home to bed – it’s only half an hour to get there! Last year the most people came on Saturday, and both nights were very special for everyone.
It costs £4 each per person per night (adults and children) to stay the night, and £1 to visit for the day.
The camp out is open to all parents and teachers, we’d love to see you all! This is a family event so children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and whilst on site each child is the responsibility of their own family. Please note this is not a school trip, but an informal leisure meet up, so parents are responsible for their own children – not the school or PTA.
Everyone had a great time last year, and as always at the camp out we need to make 100% sure we clear our litter and keep noise in the right places and times.
We should be in the same area as usual, so there’s room for lots of us. There is a special area for a campfire with seating, proper toilets, and hot showers nearby. Around the field there are barbecues and also some wooden shelters too. You can bring your own food and use the barbecues to cook it, don’t forget fuel.
Fill out the form to let us know you are coming, you can pay at the event – but please let us know you are coming.
The camp is next to Sydenham Hill Woods – run by the London Wildlife Trust – more here. This is a proper woodland – and really feels like you are out of London and in the countryside – except for the fantastic views from the hill.. Its great to get into there for a woodland wildlife walk.
We had some fun on the field last year – people brought a few gazebos, footballs, cricket, and other games, so hopefully this will happen again. It will be informal but it would be great if you’d like to bring instruments or organise a game on the grass. Last year there was an impromptu match between parents and kids from CDPS and another school. The field is secure, and kids can happily play. There is talk of musical instruments and some singing, and there will be baked chocolate bananas, marshmallows and s’mores for sure!
If you want to come you should bring:
- Bedding (sleeping bag – or your quilt if you don’t have one – and a bed mat or inflatable mattress if you fancy)
- A torch
- A tent
- Food to cook for your dinner and breakfast
- Charcoal or a disposable barbecue
- Outdoor clothes/shoes (wellies!)
- Pyjamas
- Sun cream
