Well, what a fantastic day we had on Saturday! I hope you were able to come and enjoy yourselves. It certainly seemed like there were a lot of people at the fair; with plenty of people enjoying themselves all afternoon and soaking up the atmosphere! There was certainly enough to do…
We were incredibly lucky to be visited by lots of local groups too: Waterloo East Theatre brought Scrooge himself from their production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ – which opens on the 3rd Dec ; South Bank University came to show us a demo of their junior Capoeira and Theatre Tots came to give us a taster session too.
We had the Brownies and guides, and local road safety campaign SE1 Safe Roads.
Lots of fantastic craft stalls came and sold all manner of goods including felt tiger rugs, dog gifts, baby shoes, handmade crafts, cakes and jewellery.
We had some spectacular food on offer: including hot food, cakes, hot waffles (yum!), hot chestnuts, and fruit. We also had some nice seasonal drinks in the form of fresh juices from local shop The Fruit Tree, and delicious made-to-order ‘Mocktails’. Bread and jam was at its most glamorous from our own ‘Mat & Franny’ (market stall to be next?), and lots of donated cakes.
Activities were very popular, and seemed to please all: Science Corner was a great hit – with two whole tables full of working microscopes with laptops, some fascinating video, and a real live hospital consultant – complete with stethoscopes. Decorating gingerbread, designing your own mug and planting narcissus bulbs all went down well too.
Santa was of course present and was extremely happy to be given lots of FANTASTIC gifts from all the children – which he has now taken to Action for Refugees in Lewisham – www.afril.org.uk you can see how big the pile was in the pictures.
Thanks again to all of you who helped with, donated to, and – of course – visited!
